Creative Direction in music is something extraordinary and intense. Carry a blood connection with each project and artist. Over the years, I've realized that it bears intrinsic similarities to the advertising campaigns I encountered throughout college and work experiences. Still, with one notable difference: There's a subtle balance between what needs to be sold and what needs to be told. It needs to be real. It needs to have meaning. It definitely needs to have a lot to say.

It is impossible to embark on this mission without falling in love with the story, with the artist who tells it. As a creative director, I feel like I need to be there at all times. Be the first in and the last out.

As a Creative Director, I do the following:

︎︎︎ the conception, direction and coordination of any visual materials
(i.e., covers, videoclips, campaigns, teasers, etc.)︎︎︎
︎︎︎ executive production
︎︎︎ online and offline communication strategy
︎︎︎ styling and image direction

 an untimely and noisy revolution

I met Skraba playing soccer. At the time, Skraba had Som 172, a hip-hop collective that brought together music lovers and gave access to those who lacked financial
or professional support to practice their art.The more I got involved with the project, the more I wanted to go deeper. That's when I presented the “Estúdio 172” to Rafa, which appealed to new formats, translating music through visual expressions. We also founded the “Estúdio 172 sessions”, which came soon after. It was a series where we recorded more than 50 lives and generated a connection with different musical genres and Brazilian artistic expressions. We promoted hip-hop culture differently, resulting in millions of streams on the biggest platforms, two international awards, and collaborations with artists like RZO and Caveirinha, for example. 172 was born in 2015, when I was still 17 years old, and followed as an independent label for seven years,

an untimely and noisy revolution.

info

Felipe Fonseca, also known as Fon, is a 28 years old creative and film director, born and raised in Curitiba, in the south of Brazil. For the last couple of years, he has been featured in a few festivals and editorials, as booooooom and the 45th yearbook of the Creation Club of São Paulo.

At 17, he was a business partner and founder of Estúdio 172 alongside Rafael Skraba. Together, they created this independent creative and film studio that reached the mark of 25 million views on YouTube, with the original project Estúdio 172 sessions, bringing different artists from the Brazilian music scene.

From 2018 until 2019, he directed original content and advertising at Asteroide, a film company based in his hometown, with more than 20 Cannes Lions on its shelf.

In 2020, he became creative director for Jovem Dionisio, the number one Brazilian band on the billboard in 2022, with the album Acorda Pedrinho, which he creatively directed. With hits and videoclips such as Pontos de Exclamação and Algum Ritmo, the band has already performed all over Brazil and Europe.

The most recent venture was the feature film Cor, by Anavitória, which brings together—across more than 20 cans of 16mm negatives—a live concert and a few documentary vignettes. The film was ranked as the 7th highest-rated music documentary on Letterboxd in 2024 and was screened in over 11 cinemas across capital cities in Brazil. Shortly after, they worked on Esquinas, Ana and Vitória’s fourth studio album—a project that resulted in a full-length visual album and the creative direction of the album’s integrated release campaign.

Fon was the finalist at Ciclope Latino, Berlin Commercial and Music Video Festival (mvfbr) as “new director” and won the prize at Los Angeles Indie Short Fest as “Best Music Video.”
